Last Minute Outdoor Community Christmas Event Planning

Top tips on organising a last minute Christmas community event

From one festive event to another, now that Halloween is behind us, we’re looking ahead to all the Christmas events taking place over the next couple of weeks. From Christmas light switch on, to illuminations and much more, there’s plenty of options to give your community that festive sparkle this year.

If you’re last-minute planning a Christmas event, here are some pointers to help you pull off a great event.

Location

It may be last minute, but there are plenty of places you can set up a small or large event within towns. Most places have a town centre that can host events and also public parks and open spaces. If you aren’t a council, reach out to your local one about hosting your event in their spaces. They’ll be keen to boost their Christmas event programme for the community.

Word on the Street have written a great blog about how to How to Select the Perfect Event Venue if you need some extra help.

Equipment Hire

Outsource anything you can’t handle in house, from staging, security, lighting, and stewarding. Hiring the experts who can guide and advise on what is required for your event. Most, like us, are adaptable and can customise products to suit your event. For example, our stages come in all different sizes so we can set up in the smallest of spaces, from 3 x 3 metres up to a large stage in a green space. Whatever you need, professional services will be able to help. The events industry is small, so if you need any advice, we can point you in the right direction, because even if we don't know how to do it, we are sure to know someone who does.

Performers

For that extra sprinkling of Christmas magic, make sure that your programme is as festive as possible. The entertainment is what the crowd remembers so don’t neglect to get a cracking line up sorted. Check out our blog post on How to Make the Most of Your Stage Hire for pointers and our Tips on Sourcing Performers post.

Organising a Christmas event doesn’t need to be complicated or hard if you have the right ingredients and the people to help.
